2 Antique Unfinished SHAKO CHIN STRAP BUTTONS First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry FTPCC
From the archives of MC Lilley (and probably Horstmann, see below), this listing is for a group of two (2) antique chin strap button cover plates that would have been used on a First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry shako.  The unfnished buttons would have had a plain disc-shaped backing and a hook to hold the chin strap.  The maximum diameter of the buttons is 2 3/8" and the condition is VF to Excellent, unplated.  These are genuine, antique shako button decorations that were never finished.  Please look at all the photos and ask any questions.  See my other listings.  Combined shipping is available to save postage.
Historical Information:
The shako buttons came out of the factory archives of CE Ward in New London, OH.  CE Ward acquired MC Lilley in 1951.  Between 1924-1945 the MC Lilley Company owned the military business of W. H. Horstmann Co and it is likely that these shako buttons were acquired from Horstmann as New Old Stock in the 1920’s and not returned to Philadelphia when the company was sold back to Horstmann employees in 1945.
