    Description

Up for bids is this antique original U.S. Model 1883 triangular socket bayonet for the Hotchkiss Rifle and the Winchester M1873 musket.  The blade measures 18" and it has a 2-5/8" socket.  Overall length is 20-3/4".  The blade has a smooth gray patina for the most part with some areas of light pitting.  It has no active rust, bends or abuse.  The socket also  has some even light pitting.  There are no markings of any type either on blade or socket which I am told is normal as most were exported.  The steel scabbard is in good condition with no dents and about 70% of the finish intact.  The leather frog, however, is in poor condition.  The belt loop with the U.S. roundel is nearly torn off of the leather around the scabbard throat and one good yank would separate them.  Thanks for looking.
Bayonet is as found and as made. It was part of an old collection.
Will ship to U.S. addresses.  Will ship by USPS Economy Mail.  Please ask any and all questions prior to buying.  Additional photos sent on request.  Thank you.
