Magnificent 1881 U.S. Cavalry Dress Helmet

This possibly the finest 1881 cavalry dress helmet that I have ever handled. The helmet is 100% original in all respects except for missing an original chin strap. This helmet looks like of came right out of a Horstmann shipping box. The plume is an original yellow plume as used from 1872 to 1887 when the cavalry uniforms were changed from lemon-yellow to yellow-orange. The helmet and chest cords have no signs of wear. The plume assembly is all original and even has the plume washer under the plume which is rarely found on the helmets found today. The front plate with a seven attached is all original. It would be extremely hard to copy the quality of this helmet. You can find similar helmets being offered on eBay or by outside militaria dealers but none are of this quality and most are being offered at twice the price of this helmet.
