    Description

This shako helmet plate from the National Guard dates to the 1870s to 1880s.
It is stamped brass with "NATIONAL GUARD" in a circle around a black enameled center, and
an eagle at the top of the plate.
The center has four punched holes for attaching regimental numbers.
The enamel is in great condition with no chips.
It retains all four attaching wires, one on the side of the plate, and one on each side of the eagle.  It is 2 1/8 inches wide and 3 inches tall.
