    Description

Pr Antique SHAKO CHIN STRAP BUTTONS First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry FTPCC
From the archives of MC Lilley (and probably Horstmann, see below), this listing is for a group of two (2) antique chin strap buttons from a First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry shako.  The 2-part buttons include a hook on the back to hold a scaled chin strap.  This is the last pair I have with the hook and back plate.  The maximum diameter of the buttons is 2 3/8" and the condition is VF with humidity spotting from storage.  These are genuine, antique shako buttons that were never issued - they would need to re re-plated if they are to be used.  Please look at all the photos and ask any questions.  See my other listings.  Combined shipping is available to save postage.
    Historical Information:
The shako buttons came out of the factory archives of CE Ward in New London, OH.  CE Ward acquired MC Lilley in 1951.  Between 1924-1945 the MC Lilley Company owned the military business of W. H. Horstmann Co and it is likely that these shako buttons were acquired from Horstmann as New Old Stock in the 1920’s and not returned to Philadelphia when the company was sold back to Horstmann employees in 1945.
