    Description

Antique original US Military Model 1855/70 Socket Bayonet measuring 21" overall with a 3" socket. Inside diameter .800".  Very similar to the M1873, except that this model has a larger diameter hole, and these are not blued like the M1873. Ricasso area of the blade is marked, "US/s" with the "S" being backwards. A typo!  This bayonet was probably the most widely made and utilized socket in the US due to its use by both sides of the Civil War.  "L" mortise cut and comes with ring clamp and is missing the screw.  Still has much original silver finish with darker spots patina, and a smooth finish.  See photos for further details, clarification, and condition.
